Why Can’t I Check Out With My Credit/Debit Card?
If you are unable to complete your purchase with your credit or debit card, it may be because of transaction limits, card errors, unaccepted cards, or restrictions imposed as a result of card misuse. Please review the following reasons for the problem in order to determine how to remedy it:
Transactional Capacity
When using a credit or debit card, there is a transaction limit that must be met.
Errors on the Card
The card is not visible. Closing and reopening your Shopee App should resolve any issues with the new card you have inserted. If this doesn’t work, you can try troubleshooting.
Payment is Incomplete
Prior to attempting a second payment attempt if your payment procedure was unsuccessful, check with your bank to ensure that the amount was withdrawn from your account. You can also get in touch with Shopee Customer Service if you require further clarification.
Shopee Does Not Accept Your Credit Card
Some international credit cards, as well as cards issued by specific banks, are not accepted on Shopee. Check to see if your credit or debit card is accepted on Shopee.
Restrictions Imposed Because of Card Abuse
Payments made with credit/debit cards are subject to the transaction policies set out by the card issuer. If your credit/debit card is suspected of breaking Shopee’s policies, you will not be able to use it to make a purchase on the platform. If you have another card, you should try it. Alternatively, if you believe that the issue is not the result of any suspicious activity, you can contact Shopee Customer Service.
How to Get a Refund for Credit/Debit Card?
Reversing a debit card payment will be handled to your issuing bank beginning on January 14, 2021, and the amount of the reversal will be determined by your bank. As soon as your refund request has been approved, Shopee will handle your refund within 24 hours of receiving it.
In the case of a debit/credit card payment, the reversal will be performed by Shopee to your issuing bank and may take up to 5 to 45 working days depending on your bank. Note that depending on your credit card’s billing cycle, you may still be responsible for making the payment while you wait for the refund to be processed and approved.
We urge that you get in touch with your issuing bank for follow-up. In the event of a double charge, you can contact our customer service lines for additional assistance. In order to receive a valid refund, the following payment methods will be used to determine how the refund will be applied:
- If you paid with a credit card, debit card, or Google Pay, your refund will be credited to the card that you used within 5 to 45 business days, depending on how often your card is billed.
- Payment options such as ShopeePay, Cash-on-Delivery (COD), and other payment channels are available.
- Regular refunds will be credited to your ShopeePay account within 24-48 hours, and partial refunds will be credited to your account within 4-7 business days.
Once the refund has been processed, you can use it to make future purchases or withdraw it once your bank account information has been updated. More information on ShopeePay refunds can be found here.
In the case of unsuccessful petitions, if your return/refund request is denied, the order will resume its Shopee Guarantee period and will be processed when the Shopee Guarantee time expires, unless you specify otherwise. Payment will only be released to the seller if and when the dispute is resolved in the seller’s favor.
If a dispute has been lodged against a return/refund request, the release of payment to Sellers may take up to a maximum of one month.
