The digital sector in the Philippines has shown strong annual growth of 12.2 percent over the past year. According to the government’s e-commerce roadmap, the Philippines is anticipated to transition to a cashless society by 2030, fueled by a smooth consumer experience, ease, and a secure digital infrastructure, among other factors.

During the first quarter of 2020, Shopee saw a fourfold growth in the total number of orders completed by its mobile wallets across the area, and this is expected to continue as more consumers adopt digital payment methods.

Through its integrated ecosystem, Shopee aspires to give users a seamless and convenient buying experience. One of the numerous ways in which Shopee is achieving this is by expanding the number of top-up options available through ShopeePay.

Why Can’t I Use My Debit Card in Shopee?

If you are unable to complete your purchase with your credit or debit card, it may be because of transaction limits, card errors, unaccepted cards, or restrictions imposed as a result of card misuse. Please review the following reasons for the problem in order to determine how to remedy it:

Transactional Capacity

When using a credit or debit card, there is a transaction limit that must be met.

Errors on the Card

The card is not visible. Closing and reopening your Shopee App should resolve any issues with the new card you have inserted. If this doesn’t work, you can try troubleshooting.

Payment That is Not Complete

Prior to attempting a second payment attempt if your payment procedure was unsuccessful, check with your bank to ensure that the amount was withdrawn from your account. You can also get in touch with Shopee Customer Service if you require further clarification.

Shopee Does Not Accept Credit Cards

Some international credit cards, as well as cards issued by specific banks, are not accepted on Shopee. Check to see if your credit or debit card is accepted on Shopee.

Restrictions Imposed as a Result of Card Abuse

Payments made with credit/debit cards are subject to the transaction policies set out by the card issuer. If your credit/debit card is suspected of breaking Shopee’s policies, you will not be able to use it to make a purchase on the platform. If you have another card, you should try it. Alternatively, if you believe that the issue is not the result of any suspicious activity, you can contact Shopee Customer Service.
