Updated! Shopee Commission Rate for Malaysian Sellers

Due to the pandemic situation, various business sectors are experiencing difficulties. All sales are down, and so do the revenues. To help Malaysian sellers, Shopee offers convenience in Shopee commission rate. This commission fee will affect all Marketplace sellers. And all Marketplace sellers with less than 100 completed orders since the date joined on Shopee will be exempted from the commission fee.

Marketplace sellers refer to all local sellers who are not part of Shopee Mall, selling through Shopee’s Marketplace platform. Sellers who do dropship will also be affected by this update if they are still marketplace sellers.

The following is an explanation of what percentage of the commission fee is when selling on Shopee and how to calculate the commission fee.

How Much Is the Commission of Shopee?

Shopee commit to help sellers new to e-Commerce, all Marketplace sellers with less than 100 completed orders since the date joined on Shopee will not be charged a commission fee. The commission fee will only be incurred once the 100 completed order threshold is met.

Effective 1 June 2021, the following commission fees will apply to local Marketplace sellers with ≥ 100 completed orders since the date joined on Shopee. The commission fee will only be charged on orders placed and completed from 1 June onwards.

Total completed orders refer to total paid orders delivered to and accepted by the buyer, which can be viewed via Order > My Orders > Completed on Seller Centre, but you need to do Shopee login first to your account. This excludes cancelled or returned/refunded orders, and orders pending buyers to receive and accept delivery. 

The Shopee commission fee will be charged on your product price, after deducting all Seller Vouchers and Seller Shipping Promotions. Here is how Shopee fee calculator to calculate commission fee.

For example, the Preferred Seller’s sell a product price RM110. Then the product priced at RM100 after a RM10 discount promotion. Buyer bought the product and redeemed the promo that you gave, Seller Voucher worth RM30. The commission fee is subject to 6% SST. Then how to get commission fee is as shown below.

The commission fee charged will be deducted directly from the sellers’ payout. The promotion that is included in commissions such as Shopee vouchers, Shopee coins, Shopee and product rebates. While, seller vouchers, seller shipping promotion, seller discounts, buyer paid shipping fee, and free shipping vouchers are not included in Shopee seller fee. 

Please note that this change does not affect the existing commission fees already paid by Shopee Mall and overseas sellers.

What Percentage Does Seller Get from Shopee?

Shopee commission fee 2020 have an additional 6% SST charged on top of existing Transaction Fee. The transaction fee charged 2% before 6% SST and 2,12% after 6% SST for all sellers. 

But to help new Shopee seller commissions apply only to Marketplace sellers with at least 100 completed orders or in other words it is commission free. Shopee commission rate Malaysia for Preferred and Preferred+ Sellers charged 2% commission rate and 2,12% commission rate including 6% SST. 

Non-Preferred Shopee seller charges 1% commission rate and 1,06% commission rate including 6% SST.

Q: Who will be charged a commission fee?

Shopee Mall sellers pay 3% to 5% commissions, while overseas sellers pay 5% to 6% commissions. 

Local Marketplace sellers will be charged a lower commission fee of 0% to 2% from 1 June 2021 onwards. Rates are as follows:

1. Preferred & Preferred+ Sellers (≥ 100 completed orders since date joined on Shopee): 2%
2. Non-Preferred Sellers (≥ 100 completed orders since date joined on Shopee): 1%
3. < 100 Completed Orders: 0%

Notes: 

1. Commission fee is subject to 6% SST. 
2. Marketplace sellers with <100 completed orders since the date they joined Shopee will not be charged for commission. 
3. The commission fee will only be incurred once the 100 completed order threshold is met.

Q: What do Completed Orders mean?

Completed orders refer to total paid orders that have been delivered to and accepted by the buyer. This excludes cancelled or returned/refunded orders, and orders pending buyers to receive and accept delivery. Total completed orders can be viewed via Order > My Orders > Completed on Seller Centre.

Q: Why are Preferred Sellers charged higher commissions?

Preferred and Preferred+ Sellers enjoy significantly more benefits on Shopee, including:

1. Higher buyer confidence with the Preferred and Preferred+ label.
2. Boosted search listings and search filters to increase visibility.
3. Preferred+ Sellers enjoy up to 15% discount on Shopee Ads Credits each week when topping up.

Q: Is the commission fee an additional charge to the existing transaction and service fees?

Yes, the commission fee is an additional fee chargeable on completed orders made from 1 June 2021 onwards. 

Do note that this is in addition to the existing Shopee transaction fee 2021 and any applicable service fees.

Q: If my buyer placed an order prior to 1 June but the order was completed on 1 June, will I be charged a commission fee?

If the order was placed before 1 June and completed on 1 June or later, commissions will not be charged. The commission fee will only be charged on orders placed and completed from 1 June onwards.
